Desert Signals - Vintage Moroccan Rug

A beautifully timeworn vintage Moroccan rug, Desert Signals is alive with colour, texture and character. Its richly faded red ground is woven through with irregular bands of soft grey, black, blue, green and ochre, giving the piece the wonderfully spontaneous quality of an old, one-of-a-kind textile.

Scattered across the surface are expressive raised motifs in vivid yellow, deep purple and turquoise. Their loose, almost symbolic forms punctuate the striped background like little signs or messages, while the variation in the weave and areas of natural wear reveal the hand of the maker and the rug’s history.

Long and relatively narrow in proportion, Desert Signals would work beautifully in a hallway, beside a bed, behind a sofa or anywhere that calls for a distinctive layer of warmth, colour and soul.

As a vintage handmade piece, the rug bears irregularities, fading and signs of age and use. We consider these an integral part of its beauty and individual character.
