Antique Boujaad Rug
A rug dyed in the colours of a rich harvest. Berries, walnuts and kohl would have been used to create the vegetable dyes in this finely woven carpet - it’s maker would have been happy to have such good materials to work with.
‘Boujaad’ rugs are considered to be some of the finest woven in The High Atlas Mountains. The wool is always premium quality and the weaving fine. This example has fine knotting which produces a soft feel with a short pile making it ideal for areas near doors. It sits well on the floor but is also light enough to use as a spectacular wall hanging.
